Wealth and Wisdom: Week of October 2, 2023

We enter the fourth and final quarter of 2023 with all of the uncertainties with which the year began. Will we ever have the recession everyone was predicting this time last year – and if so, why is it taking so long to get here? Has the Fed stopped raising interest rates – and if so, how long will they stay at this level? Will the Cardinals make some serious moves in the off-season to make the team more competitive – and if so, will it begin with pitching?

Clearly, if it were easy to come by the answers to these questions we would all have enough money to buy our own baseball team – and all the headaches that come along with it. “Ours is not reason why,” said the great poet. Ours is but to wait for spring training. I will be away from my desk next week; the next edition of Wealth and Wisdom will hit your inbox the week of October 16.
